This installation is dedicated to those in our community who are in recovery and those we’ve lost along the way. The altar, resembling the artist’s bedside table, shows that the sacred can be found in everyday objects and spaces. It includes items that help ground and assist her physical body as well as tools that elevate her spirit. 

The mirror features anonymous quotes from members of Queer + Sober Atlanta. The 7-day candle contains the names of loved ones who crossed over from overdose or suicide. 

“The glass in the mirror cracked during its transportation here, bringing with it a difficult lesson on surrendering and acceptance. Using the sharpie in the drawer, you’re welcome to contribute how recovery has impacted your life by writing on the mirror. You may also choose to honor someone you’ve lost by writing on the candle.”
